Job Description
The Global Shapers community enables youth to be a voice for the future in local, regional and global thought processes and a catalyst of entrepreneurship in the global public interest. To achieve its mission, the Global Shapers community is built on a network of hubs located in the major cities/regions of the world and interacts and collaborates with other Members and communities of the World Economic Forum, including with leaders from business, politics, academia, civil society, science and media.
Your primary responsibility is the fulfilment of the team’s mission to create and sustain vibrant communities of Shapers. We expect you to be a team player; have a proactive personality; possess excellent knowledge of regional and global business, politics and culture; and have a proven interest in global affairs. You will facilitate the creation of local communities of Shapers in major cities in the MENA region. This includes understanding the existing landscape of youth activism, creating the environment for the formation of local Shaper communities, strengthening the governance and operation of existing hubs and playing a supportive role in the determination of leaders for these communities. You will be responsible for nurturing hubs to maximize the likelihood that each hub succeeds and matures into responsible local contributors to the societies of tomorrow. Wheneverpossible, you will ensure collaboration between Shaper communities in your area of responsibility and the communities and activities of the World Economic Forum.
Skills
You possess a broad intellectual background with a Master’s degree in business or international relations. You have three or more years of professional experience, preferably in a sales/marketing environment, including relevant exposure to at least one global region. You are fluent in English and Arabic. Any experience in mobilizing support for volunteer or non-profit initiatives or organizations would be a plus. Knowledge of and intensive engagement with various forms of social media would be an advantage.
You will join the Forum as part of the Global Leadership Fellows Programme (www.weforum.org/glf). As such, you will be fully integrated in the World Economic Forum and benefit from an intensive work and learning experience intended to develop and train future leaders of global enterprises and international organizations.
Please apply online, providing your curriculum vitae, three professional references (with contact details), a letter outlining your reasons for wishing to join the Global Leadership Fellows Programme and an 800-word essay on your life goals and achievements.
