    Senior Manager- Strategy and Policy

    Job Description

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Support the development of the 5 year strategic plan and advise DTMFZA on the implementation of the strategy and policy to respond to emerging challenges on the commercial front and in the environment.
    Manage the timely planning and execution of projects on Strategic and policy issues and provide support to ensure that major policy developments and initiatives help drive delivery of the strategy

    Strategy Planning
    • Support the development of DTMFZA’s strategic plan by performing tasks including, but not limited to, :
    • Liaising with key stakeholders and relevant external functions in organizing strategy workshops to collect and collate required inputs (e.g., performance against goals)
    • Designing and facilitating strategy workshops to reach clear agreement and action plans
    • Developing practical strategy recommendations for implementation
    Policies, Processes and Procedures
    • Review, evaluate and contribute to the development and update of DTMFZA’a corporate and functional policies, processes and procedures
    Budgets and Work Plans
     Formulate and develop the Budgets and Work plans for the department based on DTMFZA Budget guidelines in order to ensure that all department objectives are achieved within agreed parameters and Service levels
    • Monitor the implementation of approved section budgets and take corrective action to ensure expenditure is controlled within budgets
    Innovation and Continuous Improvement
    • Identify, recommend and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of delivering Agency services through improved operational processes
    Research
    • Supervise and conduct select field interviews and primary research to collect data from customers, clients, competitors or through web based research
    • Conduct larger benchmarking surveys to obtain an understanding of market practices
    • Review the data that has been collated and synthesised to establish market trends
    • Ensure that the data collected has been validated thorough proper sanitisation and cross-data checks prior to analysis
    Review of Analysis
    • Review the analysis of market data and resolve ambiguous and conflicting data points
    • Supervise the conduct of qualitative and quantitative analysis to ensure superior quality of analysis is carried out
    • Vet and review the alternative solutions proposed and the cost estimates of each alternative
    • Review, refresh and finalize the reports and visual presentations prepared for clients
    Projects
    • Manage the timely planning, organising and execution of complex strategy projects for DTMFZA which may include, but are not limited to, :
    • Finalizing the project scope and requirements amidst high degrees of ambiguity
    • Review the business proposals and cost estimates of project tasks and phases of work
    • Review and finalize work plans, schedules and project cost budgets
    • Review the Integrated information from a wide range of internal and external sources
    • Review key data captured and provide insights into assigned topics of investigation and vet the summary findings
    • Finalize client reports including the presentation of analysis, recommendations and solutions
    Performance Management
    • Review Performance reports of DTMFZA against appropriate KPI’s metrics to track progress against set objectives
    • Review analyses and comments of performance against KPI’s and draft recommendations to take corrective action to bridge the gaps
    Communication Channels
    • Establish and consolidate relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and synergies of respective objectives
    • Review draft Communication documents and materials for presentation to clients
    • Make presentations to clients on project outcomes
    Reports
    • Prepare periodical reports for the Strategy and Policy Department to report progress on compliance with SLA’s.

    Skills

    Knowledge and Qualifications:
    A good basic degree in Business or Economics, preferably with a Master’s degree in Management/MBA

    Job Specific Training :
    Updates on state-of-the-art Strategic Management models, tools, techniques, related case studies or benchmark companies.
    Job Skills:
    Project Management skills, Market Research skills, analytical and problem solving skills, good skills in MS office especially Excel and Power point, good communication skills, good interpersonal skills, Strong Client relationship building skills.
    Personality & Behavioural Proficiencies :
    Leadership, Attention to detail, Analytical thinking, Problem solving skills, Concern for quality and productivity, Flexibility, Customer Service orientation.
    Experience :
    6 to 8 years of experience in a consulting firm or a corporate strategy department in a large, complex multi-disciplinary organization, with at least 3 years as an Engagement Manager or Strategy Manager.

    Education

    A good basic degree in Business or Economics, preferably with a Master’s degree in Management/MBA
