Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
This role requires the holder to have a sound in depth knowledge of BAE Systems Product/Project Safety, Safety Management Systems (SMS), Human Factors and Maintenance Error Management in aviation, the management of Flight Safety in aircraft maintenance environments and general SHE issues. The holder will be expected to carry out his duties using his skills, knowledge and experience to act independently with little need to refer problems to his managers


JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
PROJECT SAFETY
• TPDM compliance with the relevant Maintenance & Continuing Airworthiness (M&CA) Mandates.
• On behalf of the Senior Engineering Representative and Head of Embodiment, development of the TPDM Project Safety program.
• This will encompass the development and management of the TPDM Safety Management System which will include, but is not restricted to, the production and maintenance of any documents supporting the SMS e.g. the TPDM Ground Safety Manual, Safety Case using Goal Scoring Notation, ATEX requirements, Emergency Response Procedures and activities carried out in support of the SMS including Hazard analysis, risk assessment, audits, inspections or other checks.
FLIGHT SAFETY
Develop and manage the Foreign Object Debris/Damage (FOD) control programme. Assessment of maintenance activities to ensure flight safety is not compromised.
MAINTENANCE ERROR MANAGEMENT
Develop and manage the Maintenance Error Management System (MEMS) and the M&CA Error Decision Aid (EDA) process, including Human Factors issues, in support of the TPDM programme and in line with the overall Business Strategy
ENVIRONMENT
On behalf of the General Manager, produce and maintain an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and carry out the duties therein.
HEALTH & SAFETY
On behalf of the General Manager, maintaining the TPDM SHE plan as required by the SHE function, completing the accident reporting on the SHE of Alshareka, assisting with the completion of Risk & COSHH assessments as required. Advising Managers on SHE related issues.
INVESTIGATIONS
That investigation into Safety related incidents are thorough and that findings are fed back to the workforce and acted upon to implement appropriate corrective and/or preventative measures are taken.
MANPOWER CONTROL
Adequate manpower is available to maintain the Safety/SHE requirements.
TRAINING
Departmental training needs are identified and action taken.
Carrying out Organisational safety awareness training e.g. Induction, Fire/FOD, Manual handling and such other topics as required.
Support the delivery of Human Factors training.

Skills

ESSENTIAL
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience within an aircraft maintenance environment.
• Working knowledge of Safety Management Systems.
• Working knowledge of the RSAF Ground Safety Manual.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory management role, preferably including Aviation Safety.
• Working knowledge of Human Factors & Error Management in Aviation
• Conversant with the use of the Microsoft suite of office tools (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook).
• Good interpersonal communication and briefing skills.
• Excellent use of the English Language both written and oral.
• Ability to carry out Safety related training e.g. Human Factors, Manual Handling, Fire/Fod awareness etc.
• Ability to produce Safety Cases using e.g. Goal Structuring
Notation.

DESIRABLE

• Experience within a Tornado aircraft (or similar fast jet) major servicing organisation.
• Use of the PREDICT risk management tool.
• Use of the CASSANDRA hazard management tool
• Conversant with the use of Q-Pulse, (electronic quality management tool).
• Health and Safety (NEBOSH) or equivalent qualified.
• UK or Saudi driving license.
• Knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO9001/AS9110
