The Social Media Correspondent is a multi-media journalist with solid reporting skills who can produce and host multiple daily informative, balanced and engaging segments about social media in the Middle East on Alhurra television as well as on its digital properties. The Social Media Correspondent will:
•Organize, describe and convey information on social media with appropriate clarity and detail to suit the audience experience, background and understanding.
•Actively cultivate a broad range of new media sources.
•Contribute video, written and other materials (such as blog postings) to MBN’s digital properties.
•Actively monitor and utilize a professional Twitter and Facebook accounts designed to communicate relevant news and information about the new media space to audiences.
•Keep abreast of emerging new media tools, platforms, techniques and strategies so that they can be communicated and used to engage audinces.
•Work closely with MBN’s New Media team to design strategies to effectively engage the news audience through new media.
•Use effective story-telling methods and writing techniques in reporting, and for in-depth projects and investigative pieces.
•Ensure reporting is fair and balanced to bring further understanding and/or clarity to topic in adherence at all times with MBN’s Code of Journalistic Ethics.
•Gather information efficiently and effectively for daily stories and longer-range projects.
•Anticipate community/audience needs.
•Partner with New Media and other staff members to develop overall branding strategy for his/her work in order to build or increase audience.
•Build strategic relationships with a diverse group of sources by acting with integrity, keeping commitments, openly exchanging information and treating others with respect.
•Initiate and participate in audience feedback systems; respond timely to external communications.
•Candidate must have a Bachelors degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field with at least 2 years of professional television experience.
•Fluency in English and Classical Arabic a must.
•Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media.
•Must have excellent writing and dynamic live and taped reporting skills.
•Must have a solid grasp of basic journalistic standards and ethics.
•Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with both staff and our audiences.
•Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
•Proficiency in Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and blogging.
•Strong research and writing skills.
•Basic understanding of feed marketing.
•Commitment and ability to continue to develop sources.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
