According to the bellwether Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey (July2014),66% of UAE companies have hired new employees in the last6 months. The UAE is more attractive as a job market to71% of the survey’s UAE respondents than any other country in the region, and67% of companies are definitely or probably hiring in the next3 months.74% claim they will either ‘definitely’ or ‘probably’ be hiring in a year’s time, suggesting long-term growth and a positive outlook for the future.21% of companies will look to fill up to between6-10 positions, most of which (36%) will be for junior executive roles.

When it comes to fields that require employees currently, UAE respondents believe that the industries which are most attractive, as well as, retain the top talent, are construction (39%) and banking and finance (39%), followed by oil, gas and petrochemicals (35%). More specifically, in the next3 months UAE companies will seek sales managers (19%), customer service representatives (15%), human resources professionals (14%), project managers (14%), and executive assistants (14%).

In the UAE, the most desirable qualification is one in engineering (31%), followed by business management (29%), and commerce (21%). As the UAE has developed a gamut of higher education institutions, jobseekers can easily choose to pursue these qualifications.

Emirati Talent in the UAE

Bayt.com has almost160,000 registered Emirati job seekers who are looking for a new job or better career prospects. The Emirati talent pool on Bayt.com is extremely diverse, extending from entry level to C-Suite talent and senior executives across the entire spectrum of demographic, geographic and industry lines.

The Bayt.com Top Industries in the MENA Survey (December2013), shows that the majority of Emirati professionals (55%) choose the government as a favorable employer.
