62% of Egypt employers expect to create up to 10 new jobs in the next 3 months, according to Bayt.com and YouGov survey

According to the latest Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey conducted by Bayt.com, the number one job site in the Middle East, and leading research and consulting group, YouGov, approximately2 out of5 employers in Egypt will definitely be hiring in the next3 months.

21% of those surveyed in Egypt believe that their country of residence is more attractive as a job market in comparison to other MENA countries. Moreover,38% of working respondents in Egypt rate their industry as being more attractive as a potential employer in comparison to other industries.

Hiring expectations

68% of employers in Egypt will be hiring in the next3 months, with41% definitely hiring and27% probably hiring. According to them, only6% of companies in Egypt are definitely not hiring. Moreover, in a year’s time,39% of current employers in Egypt state that their companies will definitely be hiring, and39% will probably be hiring.

62% of those looking to hire candidates in Egypt will be opening up to10 new positions to potential employees in the next3 months. The majority of these jobs will be for executives (40%) and junior executives (35%).

Roles and experience

When looking at specific roles in Egypt, according to working respondents, the most popular candidate positions will be for human resource professionals (21%), accountants (18%) and receptionists (18%). These are followed by customer service representatives (17%) and mechanical engineers (14%).

39% of Egyptian working respondents said that their company is generally seeking candidates with managerial experience, while over one third of them said they are looking for candidates with computer skills. Moreover,34% are ideally looking for candidates with experience in sales and marketing and mid-level experience (28%).

Candidate qualifications and skills

A graduate/post graduate degree in Commerce (35%) is the most sought-after academic qualification when looking for candidates in Egypt. This is followed by a degree in Computer Science (23%) and Engineering (23%).

74% of working respondents mentioned their company values good communications skills in Arabic and English. Overall personality and demeanor (56%) and good leadership skills (49%) are also highly esteemed.

Industries attracting top talent

When asked which industry is attracting top talent in Egypt,39% of respondents replied the banking and finance industry, followed by telecommunications (37%) and oil, gas and petrochemicals (35%).

Almost8 out of10 Egyptian respondents work in the private sector, with24% of them working for a multinational company.8% of respondents in Egypt are unemployed. The most popular industries among Egypt respondents are construction and oil, gas and petrochemicals.

31% of current employees in Egypt hold directorial or senior management roles, while21% are junior managers or team leaders.14% are executives with no managerial responsibilities.

Data for the Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey was collected online between May28 and July14,2015, with a total of807 online interviews conducted with respondents from the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Pakistan.
