Business Services Coordinator - Qatar Foundation

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Housing, this position oversee the business and hospitality
activities in the Student Housing Complex including retail operations (food court, coffee house, and
c-store), meal plans, point of sales system and develop marketing campaign and communications
that will reflect the Housing and Residence Life’s focus on supporting a positive living and dining
experience and sustainable practices.

Job responsibilities
 Serve as the liaison between Housing & Residence Life, QF Food Services and vendors in the
student housing complex.
 Provide leadership and operational oversight for all food and beverage operations, and
convenience store.
 Promote a positive hospitality experience through awareness and communications with
target populations.
 Interact with students groups formally and informally and facilitate discussions in classes
and other forums.
 Maintain a Food Literacy Program, which seeks to educate students on healthy eating.
 Serve as the main scheduling person for the food court space in the Residence Community
Center (RCC) to ensure proper implementation of events and use of space.
 Vet and provide feedback on the relative sustainability of prospective vendors and products.
 Assist with the incorporation of sustainability definitions, metrics, and reporting capabilities.
 Work with students and faculty to provide educational initiatives by way of class projects
and other independent projects, as required or necessary.
 Hire and manage a student compost coordinator to audit the compostable service program;
 Provide program support to unit managers, and recruit volunteers to promote practices
leading to zero waste events.
 Monitor the Point of Sales (POS) system and related financial transactions executed by any
of the venues in the student housing complex including the cafeteria, coffee house, and the
c-store.
 Implement and monitor established policies and procedures relating to the purchase and
processing of the meal plans or any of the items sold by the vendors.
 Reconcile in collaboration with Support Services (BRD) vendors’ accounts at the end of each
month and prepare statements for payments as per QF and HBKU financial policies.
 Conduct training sessions for the new users of the POS system.
 Maintain excellent customer service through regular interaction with the users of the venues
at the RCC.
 Complete or generate weekly and monthly operating reports in order to monitor and
analyse meal plan usage at each of the venues in the student housing complex.
 Ensure that all standard operating procedures for revenues and expenses are in place and
consistent with QF and HBKU policies.
 Advertise in consultation with Support Services food menu and other initiatives on the
media wall and digital white boards, and HBKU website to increase awareness of meal plan
options within the community.
 Plan and approve internal marketing and sales promotion activities for the meal plans within
HBKU and QF.
 Be an active part of the staff team through participation in all unit and department staff
meetings that take place on a regular basis.

 Scan rare manuscripts, books, maps, newspapers, magazines, photos and microfilms using specialized Scanners as per standards defined by the library.
 Performs image processing on the scanned images such as Colour curve correction, Resolution setting, Image compression settings, image format setting, deskewing, noise removal, etc.
 Visually check the quality of the digitized images by inspecting the colour accuracy, cropping, skewing, toning, legibility, rotation, file format, resolution, sequence and completeness of pages, contrast, brightness etc.
 Perform Optical Character Recognition over the digital images, proofread the OCR output to check the accuracy of the OCR output, correct OCR and create fonts if required.
 Calibrates the scanners and monitors periodically using project predefined techniques.
 Create Structural metadata for digitized items. To assist with other digitization projects and other tasks as assigned
 Handle digitizing items with utmost care to prevent damage during digitization.

Library System Specialist - Qatar Foundation

Job Purpose:

The position provides leadership and management of the Arabization for all library systems, including the design and delivery of technical training and support to end users. The skills and experience required to support the Arabization for all library systems are unique to the position.

The Library System Specialist is in charge of data migrations between systems, and is responsible for developing and managing the technical procedures and processes related to library applications, system and databases including RFID system.

In absence of the Head of Library Systems, the incumbent will be delegated responsibility of the Library Systems team. This specialist position works with the Associate Director Library IT along with Head of Library Systems in deploying the Library IT’s strategies and operational plans to support the Qatar National Library’s mission and business objectives. Key Result Areas:
