Sometimes project Manager has to take strict decisions with customer to avoid losses , like stopping the project or releasing the resources when customer is not committed to his deliverable. If your management is not supporting you , and enforce you to continue . Can you projects be successful ?

I think that the decision to stop the project is difficult without the support of the management team, which is not easy.

But in this case, the project manager should have a meeting with the project management team to discuss the project status and how to achieve any kind of obstacles that the project has by searching for any kind of alternatives before closing the project..
There is high possibility of failure if there is lack of support from sponsor or key stakeholders (Sr. Management) because it is essential for all the stakeholders, sponsor and project manager to be on the same page in terms of project objectives, expectations from each other..
Project Manager cannot successful wiithout support of mamagement team. One of the basic quality of Project Manager is effective communication skill. It is responsibility of project mamager to inform the progress of project by way of oral communication, presentation, email etc. with a view to discuss issues.

The key in terms of project management is to assess the level of interest of your stakeholders and accordingly identify the risks and have a mitigation plan in place. Management team is a key stakeholder and you definetely need your management to sign off on the milestones that you plan to achieve during the course of the project
It is unlikely for a project manager be successful without the support of his management team in front of the customers.
The project manager has to receive support from team members, as well as, the management team.
The key thing to remember here is, the measure of the success of a project or program depends on how successful the overall team is.
