Nepotism:

Practice of appointing relatives and friends in one's organization to positions for which outsiders might be better qualified.

Many advantages are there at the start up stage, at the same time at a later stage this will put a barrier for bringing professionalism in the business and demotivate the professionally qualified ones appointed at a later stage.

It will often end up with a tough task to maintain a balanced management without much operational issues. In sole proprietorship concerns, it often happens to be.

Nepotism is in nature of any business, I believe its nothing wrong to give first Preference to family and friends if they are deserving.

Favoritism is a natural phenomenon which exists everywhere (Ozler & Buyukarslan2011). Favoritism means to prefer someone or group of people from others just because management likes his/her or them (Kwon,2005). Due to favoritism, conflict arises in organizations because the workers are not selected according to the relevant criteria (Ozler & Buyukarslan2011). Favorite people are obliged during recruitment & promotion process. As a result, qualified and capable people remain deprived from getting 

suitable jobs. This results in low motivation low performance among employees as well as organization.

Although studies have been conducted to examine the influence of favoritism, cronyism, and nepotism on jobs.
