  • Facebook is for personal and casual networking.
  • LinkedIn is for professional networking and portfolio building :)

Facebook is a substitute for a company's website with a lot more functionality than a traditional blog and it is ready for your mobile first strategy. Its great for content curation, content aggregation, contests and branded games.

LinkedIn is equally powerful, but unlike Facebook, this is a great place to get rid of social chatter and showcase projects, conduct thought leadership, build business relationships and recruit people. People use it for facebook like functionality and there is no harm in that as long as it's genuine.
