Should Interviews be recorded?

Hello everyone..

I am not HRexpert but I have kept asking myself this many a times but could not find a conclusion to it so waiting for best response from the expertise here.

Since I am recent graduate, I have given a lot of interviews to find the best suitable role and company for me. Many a times I was optimistic that I will be through but unseen reasons it fall apart.

Many times , I have been though this situations where you can feel right from the start of interiview , the interviewer is not interrested to take the interview due to his/her own reasons. This makes the interviewee a bit more nervous than he is and tends to give up a bad interview. The optimism level comes down as soon as you hear the voice of a interviewer who is already bored or behaves like he has been forced to conduct the interview.

So for the betterment of the companies image and the employees training , no matter of  how the candidate was, should the interviews must be recorded so that the companies make out who was really at fault for not gettting the candidate on board?

Dear Khalid,

Being an HR by profession, I appreciate the question and you view, what you have pointed is very much true and in many occasions it leaves negative vibes to candidates approaches.

While conducting an interview, there are various points that a recruiter needs to keep in mind (Requirement, budget, availability, qualification etc) but above all a good HR Team need to value the approaching candidate but unfortunately like in all other profession HR too has some professionals who are in actual not suitable for the profession.

To maintain a recorded interview footage is very good concept but company may not afford to do so, it is expensive and in terms of maintaining and checking will have a technical challenge.

Where as employees recruiting for key positions could be included done with the mentioned technique.

But above all the big question is who will moderate unbiased?

Hope it was of help,

Regards

Dev
