Super important according to google data the majority of traffic comes from mobile devices, so basically if our website is not mobile ready you are loosing more than 50% of clients plus the more people leave your site the lower google ranks your site so it is just downward spiral which can eventually lead you out of business if you business is heavily relied on your website traffic plus if people come to your website from mobile and your website is not functioning properly your reputation will decrease as well, people will think that you can't even hire a good web developer so in summery if your website is not mobile ready you are: losing more than 50% of clients coming form web, you are loosing google rank , you are loosing reputation
of course it is not 100% straightforward , maybe you don't do SEO at all instead you do PPC which you can configure that only desktop devices will visit your website but even in this case you are missing out on opportunities to target mobile audience so in the end you will loses a lot anyways if your website is not mobile friendly
