Regarding to your problem on slow PC.
First Check your HD available space, If your HD reaches its limit you sure experience lags on your system. Try to clean up some of your files by migrating it on other HD within the system.
Second, try to refresh your PC memory by removing cache files and temporary internet files. Also check your "on start up" programs via msconfig.exe menu and prevent it on starting up during boot up (if its windows base system). This will help your system not to load programs on startup. The lesser programs to load the faster your PC to be ready.
If it doesn't work you can simple reformat you system to refresh everything. Do Backup first
