It would really depend on the condition of the soil where the swimming pool will be built. But a moisture barrier would be the best choice. There are a lot of materials (geo-textile materials), that can be used to isolate the ground from the pool.
I have built quite a lot of pools back home in the philippines where I didn't even have to install a moisture barrier, but most of this pools where above ground
many product can be used but the best is waterproof painting exist in sika or mapei product just to apply before spater dash and ceramic or finishing
