As an iOS developer, I can confirm that iOS is well protected against virus because of the user permission requirement added to most if not all sensitive access to data and hardware within the programming process. Add to that the App Store approval process for the app. All that as long as you don´t jailbreak your device as Irfan Rasheed Khan stated.
About Android, I have´t enough experience to judge it, I am sorry :(
