Work sheet was a controlling / assessing tool used by accountants prior to final preparation of financial statements. Nowadays, the use of worksheets is left after the introduction of advanced technologies such as MS EXCEL.

Typically, a worksheet contains 5 columns where each column has a DEBIT and a CREDIT side.

column-1 lists all INCOME STATEMENT and BALANCE SHEET accounts' figures prior to adjustments (before adjustment trial balance figures)

column-2 lists corresponding adjustments, if any, to those accounts.

column-3 then show adjusted trial balance.

column-4 is Income Statement.

column-5 is Balance Sheet.
