A thorough marketing education will introduce students to multiple aspects of Internet marketing and its place in the wider spectrum of commerce. Students should expect courses in everything from content composition, to data analysis, and the principles of management. The course work of a marketing program will consist of real-world and hands-on components, such as case studies of both successful and failed marketing campaigns, and simulated businesses marketed by students using the concepts they have learned. This will include diving into several computer programs like Adobe In Design and Dreamweaver, as well as both free and proprietary website analytics software. This broad overview of each piece of the Internet marketing world gives students a firm foundation in the field to help them decide where their interests and talents fit the best. All designers should have an understanding of content creation, while all content specialists should have respect for the design process .  At the more advanced levels of a marketing program, students will hone the skills that are most important to their areas of emerging expertise to create sharp minds and strong portfolios on their way to the workplace.

It is actually a big problem for people who want to learn online marketing from scratch. I mean, you can’t just go to the university to study it, because it’s so new and it changes so quickly.

Content Writing and understanding of SEO, Statistics, HTML & CSS, Design, Social Media, Business Sense & Data Analysis are necessary for educating in Internet Marketing.

Contrary to many experts opinion here, I belive social media or digital marketing skills are better if they aren't acquired from a set of rules and guidelines. The process of learning how to engage better, research on content creation and finding out what other's are doing that's working for them, is where one who's keen to learn will benefit the most. Pick a domain you're passionate about. Think of the content style that's most popular and interactive in that domain and get on with it. For ex: Travel: short video's and picture will speak to your audience over plain text. Find and follow infulencer's using hashtag's on mediums where short video's are most viewed and your targeted audience is placed. Be patient. And interact. Comment marketing and cross-selling will help you get more eyeballs and connect your audience from every other channel you're present at.

Do this everyday. use google to understand how advertising solutions are used. By doing everything yourself, you'll rely on no expert, but yourself, and will learn faster.
