A suggestion can be considered if it implies possible good results. So the very first step to me would be, going through the proposed changes and balance the proposals positivity on the ongoing project. You can be open to an idea and adopting it isn't too hard to do, executing it is where you get the real challenge. So just be wise and honest. If its too risky its always good to show a visual view of ideas to the stakeholders, as they make their decisions through their visions otherwise take the risk but be sure to be ready of taking responsibilty to what awaits.
