Hi All, I have some confusion Interface modules are available only for Addressable Fire Alarm Systems. However, I have observed in numerous Fire Alarm Drawings by reputed designers that they put Interface modules (Mainly For Flow Switches) in Conventional Fire Alarm Systems Is it a mistake by the design side and should they go for Addressable Fire Alarm system instead so Interface Modules can be used? or am I missing something ? Even though Interface Modules are not available for Conventional FA Systems ? is there any methodology with which we can interface Flow Switch to the FA system without the use of Interface modules ? Please clarify Regards
Yes It is possible, we can integrate the Conventional panel with Flow Switch of Fire Fighting system by doing cross zoning.
Flow switch is normally connected into monitor control module & interfacing into FCAP.
Waterflow Detector or Flow Switch by System Sensor ... need to look anywhere else when you're in the market for a fire protection flow switch.
Flow switch is entirly diffrent from FACP IFU activation. Flow swich only use to control the pump operation by pressure drop which should be maintained5 PSI. If any leakage in fir fighting line then pressure will drop and flow switch will be contacted and pump will on.
Used the supervisory line given by conventional panel usually there are two to four supervisory switch line for Conventional and if you need interfaced signal there are auxiliray terminal

At the same time if fire activate the signsl will go to the IFU by loop and status of relay contact will change which reflect the activation of connected interfaced equipments like AHU, Fire Fighting Pump, smoke EX Fan etc. Here all hard wired [ power line or Volt free contact of respective control rely will be taken via IFU rela NO or NC contact.
These all are possible with CONVENTIONAL [ ADDRESSABLE ] system. If analog system having with NO / NC contact facility which should be activated to the changes of status while activation like sounder get alarmed then it can be possible of other equipment, flow switches can be controlled.
