I have encountered2-3 cases whereby the agent has imported a large quantity of stock, which is a hard sell, and then they employ a marketing person to sell it out (profitably) in a limited time frame.
The decision to import was not based on market research and didn't use ERP.

The best strategy for limited time frame profitability are Intraday, BTST (provided by certain broking firms only) and F&O trading [This strategies involve high profitability and high risk]

You will need to analyze all stock first, and do your calculation using the perfect templates for markdown. you do need to do analysis for previous sales on these products, including GRN and sell through. Based on this plan a markdown like buy2 get1 free. Run this promo for a week and look at the outcome. If it doesn't works fast and you need to clear then go for Crazy prices. My personal experience i have cleared3 thousnd units in2 days alone.

I found that an ideal strategy to quickly sell idle stock is to keep updating its cost. If everyone realize that the cost of idle stock is increasing by the day, people will find profitable approches to sell that stock.
