SCM is usually taught in the Institute focusing on Trading or Manufacturing Industries and very fewly discussed from point of view of Shipping and transportation Logistics.
Thus SC Managers have shallow knowledge about FF & Logistics from SCM point of veiw.

Logistics is in itself is a vast and separate business that have mostly independent entities that are likely to operate outside the organizations. But from the organization point of view, there is lot more to hit the bottom line through the operations and procurement limbs of supply chain. Thats the reason that SCM Managers are mostly not exposed to Logistics. SCM Managers mostly consider important only the factors that affect only their internal customers directly. Logistics is considered important factor that usually affects the external customer and external customer is the piece of cake for Sales people and not the SCM personnel.

There are three main parts to supply chain management: manufacturing/operations, purchasing/procurement, and transportation/logistics.
Most of the SCM concentrate on manufacturing/operations, purchasing/procurement as the career is more rewarding in them.
