Humanitarian issues are essential to work with humans. In the situation mentioned in the question, I will proceed as per the current state of the project and work with the subject person to resolve his/her situation with no or minimum effect on the project plan. We can sort out alternatives like getting assitance from another person or arrange to cover up at a later time if the plan allows for that. I expect that the other perosn will have an interest same as mine to have no effect on the business.

If this is not doable, I will study the alternaties with the project team and select the our recommendd one and then ask for management and customer approval. All people do respect human problems and will cooperate to resolve them with minimum impact on the business.

humanitarian issues is essential with my team as a part of my leadership & communication skills maturity , in that case I must over lap between that person (who has a critical situation and me or one of my team must hand over his responsibilities until he path this critical issue) in addition me as a manager must take in considerations that I must follow up with him for two reasons  1- follow up the tasks and the detaild of his tasks which had been handled to me or one of my team.2- Taking in considerations that he is part of my team and I must know what had introduced in his situation if we are strong team
