What are the basics of dealing with the system Kali Linux?

Kali Linux is not a recommend system to use, Kali Linux itself have some defects in term of stability & security, for example the latest Linux kernel is always used, which is bad, since the latest kernels are not stable enough.

Also, some of the component are missing in like of graphic card support, the packages source differ from ordinary Debian distributions, also Kali Linux always favor the upstream drivers (unstable), hence it is not an every-day Desktop/Laptop operating system.

As for security, the whole distribution dose run on single user mode, or as called now rescue mod, that means you are always the "Root", which is a very bad practice, but hey they have there own point.

So, you should NOT use Kali Linux, unless you have a very good reason to do so.

The system is based on Debian Linux distro which has a collection of security and forensic tools.

Kali Linux is mostly used for security testing like hacking etc.

Kali Linux is Debian based and is used much on security testing, pentests, forensics and hack tests.

So,

Kali Linux is a PENTESTERS distribution (penetration testing) which is the principal legal exploitation of this system. "Pentesting"  means testing the vulnerability of someone's network security by himself. But yet it's used for hacking which is sure enough Illegal. This is (I mean PENTESTERS is) a very particular area of IT security, very sharp. it is used by Professional (or not) who tests computer networks and servers security; they are highly competent, with years of experience. (Kali is the successor to Backtrack).

I have made my USB Key Bootable on Kali Linux since few years and I have had a lot of fun with it, and since then all my USB keys have a linux distribution in them that I can use anywhere
