In Gas turbines, how is Active & non-active sides of thrust bearings identified? I get confused between the 2 in the driver (GT) and the driven (COCE)

Usually in gas turbine application a duel thrust bearing is installed (most likely in the gear box) Facing bearing arrangement, assume shaft movement in one direction this will identify first active side (Bearing the load) then assume movement in the opposite direction, this will identify active side for the second part

 active and non active is base in which direction the shaft will move during the operation.
