In order to be efficient, discipline and rigor is required. When implementing efficiency, does it impact on effectiveness?

Efficiency is about doing things right, it demands documentation and repetition of the same steps. Doing the same thing again and again in the same manner will certainly discourage innovation. On the other hand, effectiveness encourages innovation as it demands people to think, the different ways they can meet the desired goal.

Not necessarily. As you said, effeciency is doing things right while effectivness is doing the right things. If effeceincy is implemented in doing effective tasks, then effeceincy impacts effectivness. If not, it doesn't.

Well first the real fact to argue is "efficiency requires discipline and rigor".

Efficiency no longer relies on discipline and rigor. Actually those sole words are discouraging to any employee now days and especially in a hectic market we are dealing with everyday in the work place. It is true that repetition leads to efficiency, but its the strategy of that repetitive task or rule or order that can make a world of a difference and truly produce effectiveness.

In other words, an interesting, constantly changing, and creative strategy of repetition lead to efficiency, which leads to effectiveness.

Well i think it depends on the area you measure . if you measure machines efficiency the answer should be yes it could effect of total production effectivnes as it requiredto decrease set up time and long runs which may lead to produce over than current customer needs and even delay thier ordrs. which negatively effect on effectivness.

if you are measuring performance of sales or forcasts its efficiency increase must go with effectivness or all the process performance will meet a big challanges.

I certainly do not think that doing the same thing again and again discourages innovation. If you measure efficency, how would you say that the same task is being done at peak effciency? I feel success lies in doing one task more and more efficiently. One must find a way of doing the same tasks more efficiently.

Effectiveness or efficiency, both require discipline. Etiher of them can help innovation, its the angle one would approach the two.
