On the last Event I have attended, one of the speakers said: Content is no longer the King. What do you think?

It is the User ofcourse who can make the content a gladiator King in the creative competitive world of content and it is the content who can make itself an identity in SEO content on all Search Engines and finally Search Engines give a warm welcome to all those SEO based pure content which assists in getting website on higher search results along with improvement in Google PR (Page Rank) as well.
As we all know that in the Google Penguin updates, 1 of the most prominent factor is pure content and ofcourse content marketing is also essential part of it.
& finally in 1 sentence: CONTENT IS STILL THE KING OF ALL.

That is a trick question because they are both different sides of the same coin.
If you don't have good content then you will have very few users checking you out.
If you can provide people with what they want then they will come.
The point is can you provide them with new original content that can both satisfy you and them? Its very similar to the idea of writing a song.
You want to make money so you have two choices.
Do you make it a commercial somewhat generic pop hit to attract people or do you do something original and creative (and thought provoking and unexpected and breath taking) and peak people's interests to start listening to you.
I will also add to that the way you present your content.
If you are stuck in a UX / UI loop of presenting your original and thought provoking content in a way that people cannot get to it then most people will just avoid it.
But if you make the path to your content easy to find and facilitate their finding this original content then of course you will be both innovative and a smart marketeer (for marketing yourself correctly).
So there you have it ...
content is important but without users it is useless...
much like Emily Dickinson poems had they not been discovered in her desk after her death.

User or Content, Who is King?

It depends on how you look at it - from one side of the coin, the user is King. And when looked from another side of the King, the content is.

Now, let's look at it from the side of the coin that speaker did: Why the Content User is King.

1. Users influence content ROI: Why do we create contents? For users of course? And every well created content has a purpose and a call-to-action to drive users to help you achieve the purpose the content is written. If your content matches what the user is looking for, you'll get reward (sales, social shares, ROI) from your content.

2. User intent: Matching content with user intent is what drives targeted search traffic and the desired low bounce rate. Even if you use paid traffic and your content is not tailored to the user intent, most visitors would bounce off after the first10 seconds.

3. User experience drives engagement and length of stay at your content page. Every content creator wants users to stay on for as long as possible, an indication that they like what they read.

As a content creator, I can think of a lot more reasons why I write for my users, but those are some.

The answer is simple - you attract your users through content. Then, you use your data to modify your content for your users and keep them engaged with you :)

Users are your king and content is the king of your strategy.

I think the user is always king. Why? well, because the content is there to serve the user.

However, although the user is king, content is very important: it is what fuels everything, it is what engages and retains a target audience, with the objective of driving profitable customer action.

Content, because business need to get unique and potenial customers, there is nothing in increasing the visitor count but need to get potenial customers.

To produce potenial customers, even if it is low in number, only specific keywords in the content can generate it. A1000 visitors just visitng is bad than a few20 -30 customers.

The user today because, they are involved in both pushing the content as influencers and pulling the content to consume it.

Content is king maybe for reasons related to SEO but when it comes to social experience management and engagement metrics its the user who is king.
