Do you think in current practice Advertising is 85% confusion and 15% commission or companies are really focusing on what the book says?

Now a days there are lot of companies which says that they are the best source of advertising and marketing. There is lot of competition in this field. But the questions remains do they really hit the gut feelings of viewer or consumer. Well for be there is still lot of room for creativity.
