About the job FACADE ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: As a Facade Engineer specializing in glazing, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of glass facades for various construction projects. You'll work closely with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the glazing systems meet aesthetic, functional, and safety requirements.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Design Development: Collaborate with architects and other professionals to develop glazing concepts and designs that align with the project's vision, aesthetic goals, and performance requirements.
  • Material Selection: Evaluate different types of glass, coatings, and framing systems to determine the most suitable options based on factors such as thermal performance, structural integrity, safety, and budget.
  • Structural Analysis: Conduct structural analysis and calculations to ensure that the selected glazing systems can withstand wind loads, seismic forces, and other environmental factors while maintaining safety and stability.
  • Technical Drawings: Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for the glazing systems, including plans, elevations, sections, and fabrication details, using CAD software.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, suppliers, and contractors throughout the design, procurement, fabrication, and installation phases to ensure seamless execution of the glazing work.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance procedures to verify that the glazing materials and installations comply with industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Cost Estimation: Assist in cost estimation and budgeting for glazing-related activities, including material procurement, fabrication, installation, and any required testing or inspections.
  • Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize the performance, cost, and sustainability of the glazing systems without compromising quality or safety.
  • Problem-Solving: Address technical challenges, resolve design conflicts, and provide innovative solutions to issues that may arise during the design, fabrication, or installation of glazing systems.
  • Research and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to glass facades and building envelope systems, and incorporate new knowledge into project designs.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Candidates MUST be immediately available and currently based in the UAE
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or specialized training in facade engineering is a plus.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in facade engineering, with a focus on glazing systems for commercial, residential, or institutional buildings.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and structural analysis tools (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000).
  • Strong understanding of building codes, standards (e.g., ASTM, AAMA), and industry guidelines related to glazing design, fabrication, and installation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking ability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
