    ROLE PURPOSE
    Supervises plant Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) group personnel and sponsors plant practices and procedures for SHE. Supports plant improvement plans and capital projects.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    1. PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES
    Document and maintain practices, and procedures that ensure safe, incident-free activities at PCC facilities. Maintains core safe work practices and procedures.

    2. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
    Develop and sponsor training programs to ensure all personnel work in a safe, incident-free manner. Develop practices, procedures and training programs that improve execution SHE procedures and results.

    3. CONTINUOUS RELIABILITY IMPROVEMENT
    Provide support for plant improvement teams. Identify and track SHE metrics and cost data associated with plant operations. Develop and communicate strategic improvement plans. Ensure improvement plans are aligned with and integrated into plant budgeting processes.

    4. STRATEGIC PLANNING AND COMMUNICATIONS
    Coordinate the development and execution of PCC safe work practices, procedures and programs to improve SHE results. Support the preparation of manpower plans, expense budgets, and capital budgets that ensure the safe, incident-free execution of plant activities and capital projects.

    5. CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT
    Help audit and provide oversight of contract personnel to ensure they work safely and provide high quality services for plant projects. Provide training on core safety practices and procedures to contract personnel as needed to ensure good SHE metrics and results.

    6. DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
    Ensure critical Department policies, practices and procedures are documented and maintained in accordance with the plant Operational Excellence System Standards and Specifications. Carry out document management and retention activities as scheduled and in a timely manner.

    OPERATING CONTEXT, BOUNDARIES AND DECISION MAKING
    The job holder supervises the activities of the SHE Group and sponsors SHE practices, programs, and procedures for the PCC facility. They will support the Nylon Conversion Project through design, owner’s cost procurement, commissioning and start up activities.

    Internally works closely with all groups to provide SHE support for all plant and capital project activities. Sponsors and supports plant improvement teams with data and research.

    Externally has contact with counterparts to identify and adopt best practices applicable to capital project and plant support activities.

    Decisions: Helps support decisions relating to SHE activities. Makes recommendations and develops proposals for changes in procedures to support best practices and improve the SHE metrics and results.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

    Qualifications: Must have a degree related to Industrial Safety or Health or 15 years experience providing Safety and Health support for chemical plant operations and maintenance.

    Training: Must have knowledge and experience providing SHE support to plant operations and/or capital projects. Must be knowledgeable about behavioural based SHE programs, safety planning and execution for projects and maintenance turnarounds and process safety programs.

    Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written English communications skills. Proficient in MS-Office programs. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments and priorities. Must be able to coach and mentor a multi-national work force.

    Experience: With the appropriate degree the candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of SHE experience supporting projects or chemical plant operations. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
