About the Business
Description and Desired Qualifications
The Halcrow Urban Water team deals with a range of public and private sector clients and provides specialist technical advisory and project management services on water industry projects in the Middle East. Due to continued growth and opportunities we are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer with extensive design management experience in water projects to join our team in the UAE.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for the delivery of water projects and will, therefore, have extensive experience in design review and project management of major water projects. You will play a key role in the development of new business as well as the tender preparation process; the ability to provide technical and commercial / contractual input is critical. As the interface between key stakeholders, which include the Client and various Government Departments, excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills are essential. Both English and Arabic language skills are key to this role. Due to the nature and locations of the projects, travel is a major component of the role and, therefore, applicants must be willing to spend regular periods away from their home base.

Basic Qualifications

Job Purpose
To perform the oversight of the engineering activities related to the Prime Contractor’s (PC’s) and his Sub-Contractors/Suppliers’ deliverables during the design, construction, installation, and commissioning of Braka Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) with the focus on electrical systems and equipment .
Electrical Deliverables Review
Conducts primary technical reviews, as appropriate, on assigned PC’s design deliverables related to electrical power equipment and associated protection, control, and monitoring systems including, but not limited to, general arrangement drawings, single line diagrams, schematic drawings, cable management systems, electrical equipment sizing calculations / analysis, protection logic, relevant technical specifications, procurement and tendering packages to ensure they are in compliance with PC requirements, project schedule, and UAE laws and regulations, where relevant.
Monitors the PC in all aspects of Electrical systems and equipment, during the design, construction, installation, and commissioning of BNPP, such as power transformers, generator, motors, load centers, motor control centers, switchgears, cables, etc.
Reviews vendor documentations for the compliance with the PC requirements with respect to electrical equipment and materials.
Coordinates and approves primary technical reviews of PC’s and/or ENEC’s processes and procedures and prepares technical reports on findings.
Accepts electrical equipment design change and non-conformance reviews and evaluations.
Ensures development of required documentation of the review process, including comments, recommendations and corrective actions plans for the PC.
Ensures that assigned electrical installations are performed in accordance with the engineering design requirements, project contract agreements, schedule and ENEC’s Safety and Quality standards. Technical Support
