Carpenter

Responsible for interpreting blueprints, taking measurements, and calculating material requirements. Prepares materials by cutting, shaping, and smoothing lumber and other materials. Constructs window frames, doors, staircases, and building frames, and lays out floorings, roofings, or drywalls. Installs furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items as specified. Conducts inspections and performs repairs or maintenance as needed. Builds scaffolding and other construction structures to support ongoing activities. Ensures adherence to safety and quality standards while working independently or as part of a team.

Key responsibilities:

• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand blueprints, drawings, and sketches to comprehend project requirements thoroughly.
• Measurement and Calculation: Take precise measurements and calculate the size and quantity of materials needed for construction projects.
• Material Preparation: Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials such as fiberglass according to specified measurements.
• Construction Assembly: Construct window frames, doors, staircases, and building frames using raw materials or pre-constructed items.
• Installation: Lay out flooring, roofings, or drywalls to ensure they are leveled and compatible with the project specifications. Install furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items as designated.
• Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect construction sites and perform repairs or maintenance as required to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
• Structural Building: Build scaffolding and other construction structures to support ongoing construction activities.

• Education: High school diploma required; successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is necessary.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience as a carpenter, showcasing proficiency in working with carpentry materials.
• Technical Skills: Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques, including installation and construction methods. Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment, as well as measurement tools such as powered saws, hammers, and rulers.
• Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Safety Compliance: Willingness to always adhere to safety guidelines during work.
• Communication: Good knowledge of English for effective communication on the job.
• Mathematics: Solid understanding of basic math concepts related to carpentry work.
• Physical Fitness: Good physical condition and endurance to perform carpentry tasks.
