Bayt.com Poll: Ramadan in the Middle East and North Africa 2019

The combination of long hours and hot days can make it difficult for professionals to work and be productive during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Therefore, employers need to be aware of the sensitivities of their employees during the Holy Month, and try their best to support them.

Also, one might think that finding a job during Ramadan is harder than it usually is, and as a result put their job search to a halt, but the vast majority of respondents to the 2019 Bayt.com Poll: Ramadan in the MENA region stated otherwise.

Are jobseekers’ perceptions on the job market during Ramadan starting to change? To what extent is employee productivity impacted during Ramadan, if at all? And what can employers do to support their employees during Ramadan? Bayt.com polled thousands of professionals throughout the MENA region to illustrate their opinions, strategies and behaviors throughout the Holy Month.

Key Findings:

  • 95.1% of professionals feel optimistic about their career during the Holy Month.
  • 92.1% of professionals in the region believe that their employers provide adequate support during Ramadan.
  • Over three quarters (78.3%) of respondents mentioned that their employers offer flexible working arrangements or shorter hours during Ramadan.
  • The vast majority (87.8%) of professionals stated that they were satisfied with their performance in Ramadan.
  • 94.4% of respondents state that they have more time to search for jobs during Ramadan.

Data for the 2019 Bayt.com ‘Ramadan in the Middle East & North Africa’ poll was collected online from April 3, 2019 to May 19, 2019. Results are based on a sample of 7,937 respondents. Countries that participated are the UAE, Bahrain, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Tunisia, KSA, Yemen, and others.
