In 2015-2016, ARIJ will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary. ARIJ is the only region-wide organization in the Arab world exclusively dedicated to advancing investigative journalism and to creating a community of support for IJ practitioners in the region and linking them to international peers. To date, it has been supporting the proliferation of IJ in 9 countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen. ARIJ’s vision is to advance excellence in investigative journalism with the aim of increasing accountability, transparency and access to information in the Arab world for the public good. ARIJ seeks to accomplish this by: 1. Providing standard and advanced skills training to professional journalists and IJ curricula to undergraduate and graduate journalism programs; 2. Incubating investigations through small grants, provision of coaches and legal defense, prizes and access to data; 3. Building a community of support for investigative journalists through a regional IJ Forum and facilitating linking and networking regionally and internationally; and 4. Maintaining the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the organization.
