Job Description:
Position Overview: As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of DBAs while ensuring the stability, performance, and security of the organization's Oracle database systems. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in Oracle databases, including Oracle Golden Gate, experience with database migrations and upgrades, and familiarity with managing databases over AWS (Amazon Web Services) or OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure).
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of Oracle DBAs, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that encourages knowledge-sharing and professional growth.
- Delegate tasks effectively, set clear goals, and ensure the team's timely and successful execution of Oracle database-related projects.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate documentation and preparing reports on database performance, security, and maintenance activities are important aspects of the role. This helps in tracking the database environment and communicating relevant information to stakeholders.
Oracle Database Management:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle database systems to meet business requirements and performance objectives.
- Monitor Oracle database health and performance, proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Plan and execute Oracle database upgrades, patches, and migrations, including cross-platform and hybrid cloud migrations.
- Implement and enforce Oracle database security policies, access controls, and backup and recovery strategies to safeguard sensitive data.
Oracle Golden Gate:
- Implement Oracle Golden Gate solutions to support data replication across database platforms.
- Configure, manage and troubleshoot Oracle Golden Gate replication for real-time data integration and high availability.
Performance Optimization:
- Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to optimize Oracle database performance and ensure efficient query execution.
- Analyze Oracle database performance metrics and recommend improvements to enhance system responsiveness and resource utilization.
- Conduct periodic capacity planning to anticipate future growth and allocate resources accordingly.
Database Migrations and Upgrades:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Oracle database migrations and upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Develop and follow migration and upgrade methodologies, including pre and post-migration testing and validation.
Managing Databases over AWS/OCI:
- Leverage your knowledge and experience with AWS or OCI to manage Oracle databases in cloud environments.
- Implement highly available and scalable Oracle database solutions on AWS or OCI.
- Optimize database performance and cost-effectiveness in cloud environments through proper resource allocation and utilization.
Incident Management and Troubleshooting:
- Respond to and lead the resolution of critical Oracle database incidents and outages in a timely manner.
- Conduct thorough root cause analyses and implement preventative measures to avoid recurring issues.
- Develop and maintain runbooks and standard operating procedures for Oracle database incident response and resolution.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to support Oracle database-related application development and deployment.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing updates, reports, and insights related to Oracle database operations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of Oracle database trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cloud database management.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Senior Oracle DBA, with at least [10] years of hands-on Oracle database administration.
- Previous experience in a leadership or team lead role, demonstrating strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Expertise in Oracle database technologies, including Oracle Database 12c, 19c, OGG...
- Understand AWS database services, such as Amazon RDS for Oracle, and utilize AWS-specific features and tools for database management and optimization.
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a plus, enabling you to extend your skills to managing Oracle databases in OCI.
