Position Overview
 

The Boeing Company is seeking a Associate Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will develop, integrate, and document mechanical, fluid, and thermal system requirements to establish advanced product designs. While this position is rooted in core mechanical product definition, 3-D computer-aided engineering, and physical systems integration, we have a strong preference for candidates who can apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to transition traditional document-based workflows into a highly integrated digital thread.

In this position, you will bridge the gap between physical mechanical design and systems architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, production operations, and suppliers to design complex systems while using tools like SysML, UAF, and digital twin concepts to optimize requirements, interfaces, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

Position Responsibilities:

• Design & Integration: Develop, maintain, and modify mechanical, fluid, and thermal system designs, component installations, and routing using 3-D Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) / CAD tools.

  
  
  

• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Apply MBSE methodologies, SysML, and UAF architectures to capture, define, and manage mechanical and fluid system architectures, logical schemas, and physical-to-functional interfaces.

  
  
  

• Analysis & Optimization: Perform and integrate mechanical, fluid, and thermal analyses to validate that systems meet performance and certification requirements. Apply figures of merit and integrated optimization tools for multi-disciplinary trade studies.

  
  
  

• Requirements Traceability: Formulate and manage system-level requirements, performing functional and logical decomposition from aircraft-level needs down to component specifications with robust three-way traceability.

  
  
  

• Supplier & Lifecycle Management: Manage supplier technical development, qualification testing, and production readiness, ensuring supplier designs are integrated back into the master system models.

  
  
  

• Digital Thread Integration: Link and trace system models (e.g., Cameo Enterprise Architecture, 3DEXPERIENCE) to mechanical designs, analytical models, test data, and manufacturing execution processes.

  
  
  

• Liaison & Support: Exercise engineering judgment to resolve design issues during manufacturing, assembly, and test phases, utilizing concurrent engineering and Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/A) principles.

  
  
  

• Standards & Innovation: Implement and champion model-based architecture standards within the mechanical engineering organization, helping to mentor and upskill team members in digital engineering practices.

  
  
  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 4+ years of demonstrated experience in MBSE, SysML, and UAF methodologies.

• Exposure to PLM, Manufacturing, and ERP tools and processes is highly preferred.

  
  
  

• Knowledge and understanding of end-to-end product development workflows in a system or system-of-systems environment.

  
  
  

• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: MQL, Java, Python scripting

  
  
  

• Knowledge of DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160 standards.

  
  
  

• Experience applying SAE ARP 4754 for systems engineering aspects.

  
  
  

• Familiarity with Agile / SAFe processes is mandatory.

  
  
  

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff.

  
  
  

• Ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment.

  
  
  

Typical Education & Experience:

• Education and experience typically acquired through advanced education, such as a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, along with 6 to 8+ years of relevant Systems Engineering experience, including 4+ years of hands-on MBSE/SysML/UAF experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered, such as a Master’s degree with fewer years of experience or a strong technical background with demonstrated expertise in model-based systems engineering, requirements management, systems architecture, and digital engineering tools.
