EHS Manager; India Operations

This position is responsible to direct and manage foundational EHS systems that are utilized by the EHS organization globally, with an emphasis on the Global Service and Manufacturing operations for India.  This position will manage EHS compliance and process conformance, identify opportunities for risk management, and manage and prevent related liabilities from a holistic EHS perspective for all operations in India.

Background and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and/or Health and Safety Science or related field (or equivalent relevant experience) plus a minimum of 5-10 years of applicable experience in a manufacturing or petrochemical environment.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, and written skills is required, as this position must interact with all levels within Elliott, Elliott subcontractors', and Elliott customers' organizations.  

Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, databases, and internet based systems) required.

NATURE OF THE JOB

Directs and leads EHS regulatory compliance programs and initiatives for Global Service and Manufacturing in India.

Representing Elliott as the single point of contact for EHS matters for India, ensuring data collected is consistent for India area.

Establishes internal process controls for India operations and aligns with Repair and Field operations in AP, Americas and EMA; IP operations in Jeannette; and Global EHS functions.

Directs and leads implementation of internal Elliott processes and customer requirements.

Manages the strategic interface with external regulatory agencies and internal and external legal counsel.

Leads and maintain the ISO system (140001 and 45001) of India.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS

All levels of employees from shop floor to Directors.

Elliott leadership teams and Global EHS to collaborate on programs and align with strategy.

Regular contact with Elliott customers, project leaders, procurement, and operations personnel.

In-country regulatory agencies in communicating regulatory and compliance matters.

Third party vendors including certified industrial hygiene firms, auditing/consulting firms, risk management, and law firms representing Elliott company risks and liabilities.

Elliott Field personnel for communication of environmental and health and safety compliance requirements in India.

Global EHS team with special emphasis on operations teams in India.

SUPERVISION

Direct hire and supervision of third party EHS providers to India operations.  EHS leadership and support to local EHS coordinators in India.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES

• Implement the EHS strategic plan for India Operations and supporting the leadership team on EHS matters.

• Develop and lead implementation of EHS systems for India operations collaborating deployment with other EHS Managers in AP.

• Identify, establish, and maintain internal processes for EHS such as procedures, work instructions, EHS directives, and guidelines.

• Identify, establish, and maintain the corporate system for identification and mitigation of process EHS risk from an enterprise and process specific perspectives.

• Managing the system for standardized EHS metrics to be used to establish long term and short-term goals for India in close collaboration with leadership and EHS peers in Asia Pacific.

• Manages legacy information and controls critical EHS data including third party audit reports, risk assessment reports, key health and safety documents, and environmental permits.

• Manages the strategic interface with external regulatory agencies and external EHS legal counsel for India compliance matters.

• Manages the incident investigation process to identify trends, best practices, and opportunities for incident prevention.

• Providing leadership and technical guidance for EHS Coordinators in India develop EHS talent and competency.

• Providing leadership and technical guidance for technical field personnel in India.

• Reducing EHS risks, liability and associated financial costs pertaining to compliance for India operations.

• Serving as the EHS expert in India and remaining actively engaged with continuing education relevant to this position in order to maintain EHS certifications and to ensure regulatory knowledge on changes that may affect EHS compliance.
