Engineering Manager – Identity Platform Team 

Overview:

Mimecast is looking for an Engineer Manager to join the Identity Platform engineering team. At Mimecast we operate a Cloud based, highly available, high-volume transaction, scalable Cyber Reliance platform. All this happens in a state of the art and complex technical environment that is run by some of the best technologists in their subject field. We are looking for someone who thinks that searching for a needle in a haystack can indeed be exciting and not afraid of exploring unconventional solutions.

Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Manager for the Identity Platform team, you will be instrumental in forming and scaling high-performing teams, offering dedicated support for individual growth and career progression. Your responsibilities will include: 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Architects, and Engineers, to define project milestones and deliverables. 
• Engage closely with the HR and Recruitment teams to attract, onboard, and retain exceptional engineering talent. 
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with projects, ensuring smooth and reliable operation. 
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, ensuring effective communication and knowledge sharing. 
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging standards and best practices, to maintain high-quality software development. 
• Monitor and analyze AWS usage, working with senior management and engineer teams to provide recommendations for cost savings.  

What You’ll Bring: 

• Strong communication skills with experience in effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
• Successful track record of project leadership, including planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects with predictability. 

• Strong technical background in software engineering, with hands-on experience in designing and developing backend services at scale within AWS. 
• Experience in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, including recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing talent development. 
• Experience in establishing and enforcing coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes to maintain high-quality software development.
