Summary of the role:

Levi Strauss & Co. is hiring for its Digital & Technology Engineering team to build and modernize our global Order Management and Fulfilment platform. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer. This engineer will drive the architecture, design, and development of scalable cloud-native solutions. These solutions will power inventory visibility, order orchestration, fulfilment, returns, payments, and seamless omnichannel customer experiences across our global retail ecosystem. You will report to Engineering Manager- OMS Inventory. We base this role out of Bangalore, working in a hybrid set up.

About the Role:

As a Lead Software Engineer within the Order Management & Fulfilment Technology organization, you will provide technical leadership for the design, development, and evolution of enterprise-scale Order Management capabilities. You will own end-to-end solution architecture across OMS, Fulfilment, Inventory, Payments, and Customer Order lifecycle while partnering with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Managers, and cross-functional engineering teams. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can build highly scalable cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform, drive modern engineering practices, mentor engineers, and lead complex integration initiatives across enterprise platforms. Important Results

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for enterprise Order Management and Fulfilment platforms.

• Partner with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and business-driven technology solutions.

• Drive the modernization of OMS capabilities through cloud-native, event-driven, and API-first architectures.

• Establish engineering excellence by promoting reusable frameworks, automation, observability, DevOps, and secure engineering practices.

• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and build an engineering culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement.

About the Job:

• Design and implement end-to-end cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that power enterprise Order Management, Inventory, Fulfilment, Returns, and Payment capabilities, leveraging modern software engineering principles and scalable microservice architectures.

• Lead the architecture and development of highly scalable, resilient, and secure full-stack applications across backend services, APIs, integrations, and user-facing applications to support omnichannel commerce experiences.

• Build event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging to process high-volume order, inventory, and fulfilment events while ensuring reliability, resiliency, and operational excellence.

• Design and implement enterprise integrations across OMS, ERP, CRM, WMS, Commerce, Payment, and other business platforms using REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, MuleSoft, and modern integration patterns.

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions that balance functionality, performance, security, maintainability, and long-term platform evolution.

• Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and technology decisions while establishing engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices across the team.

• Drive cloud adoption and platform modernization by leveraging GCP services such as Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, and cloud-native deployment patterns.

• Establish engineering excellence through clean architecture, Domain-Driven Design, SOLID principles, automated testing, secure coding practices, and continuous improvement of software quality.

• Define and promote observability standards by implementing monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, dashboards, and operational metrics using New Relic, GCP Monitoring, and modern observability tools.

• Lead CI/CD and DevOps initiatives by improving automation, deployment pipelines, infrastructure as code, release governance, and engineering productivity using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Mentor engineers through architecture guidance, code reviews, technical coaching, and knowledge sharing while fostering a collaborative and engineering culture.

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, Business stakeholders, and globally distributed engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and customer-focused technology solutions.

• Participate in production support, incident management, and continuous platform improvements while embracing a “You Build It, You Run It”.

About You:

• 8–12 years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years leading the design and delivery of enterprise-scale applications and mentoring engineering teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Strong experience in Order Management Systems (OMS) and Fulfilment, with a deep understanding of order lifecycle, inventory management, fulfilment, returns, payment orchestration, and omnichannel commerce.

• Proven experience designing and building cloud-native, distributed applications using modern software engineering principles and microservice architectures.

• Hands-on experience with full-stack development using technologies such as Java/Spring Boot, or similar modern frameworks.

• Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, and cloud-native deployment patterns.

• Experience building event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, including asynchronous messaging, processing, high-throughput architectures, and enterprise integration patterns.

• Strong understanding of API-first development, enterprise integrations, and integration platforms using REST, SOAP, JSON/XML, OAuth/JWT, API Gateways, MuleSoft, or similar technologies.

• Hands-on experience with DevOps and cloud engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, infrastructure automation, and production support.

• Solid understanding of modern engineering practices including Domain-Driven Design (DDD), SOLID principles, Test-Driven Development (TDD), observability, secure coding, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

• Experience with Manhattan Active Omni or other related OMS platforms like Sterling or Blue Yonder OMS, retail commerce platforms, New Relic, or Google Pub/Sub.

• Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management, with ability to influence the architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate effectively across globally distributed teams.
