Unix/Linux Systems Administrator

Provides technical support for Unix Operating Systems (OS) and components to ensure readiness, performance, resources, and security meets the needs of the client. Serves as a technical resource for systems design, installation, configuration and client provisioning. Monitors daily operations, providing maintenance and remediation of system issues.

Essential Job Functions:

• The Linux Systems Engineer will utilize experience to specify, design, implement, document,
• test, troubleshoot and deploy IT system solutions.
• The individual will be responsible for all system patching using Red Hat Satellite.
• The individual will be responsible for working with our system administrators and management
• staff on day-to-day operations and new project implementations.
• The individual will serve as a resource assisting in the design and review of various
• network/storage/server configurations during the deployment process of solutions.
• The individual will also periodically perform auditing and testing of infrastructure to ensure the
• security/functionality of our network components.
• Analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develops and implements strategies
• for improving or further leveraging these systems.

Minimum Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent with prior related work experience required; Bachelor’s
• degree in computer science or related field preferred.
• 3+ years’ system engineering experience.
• 3+ years’ experience with Red Hat Linux-based server administration.
• Knowledge with Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, Haproxy, Gitlab, and Red Hat Satellite.
• Thorough understanding of network protocols
• Thorough expertise in protocol standards such as: IPv4, IPv6, ARP, VLAN.
• A high degree of experience with Layer 3-7 protocol standards such as DNS, DHCP, HTTPS
• Experience with design, implementation and maintenance of VMware ESXi version 7.0+.
• Familiarity with network authentication protocols and tools such as LDAP and Kerberos.
• Audits computing environment configurations to support ongoing solution development and testing functions.
• Develops, recommends and executes changes to complex systems.
• Solves complex technical and operational problems.
• Effective communications and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of audit standards and best practices
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a background and credit checks.
• Payment processing or other financial services experience preferred
