Your role and responsibilities

• Planning, installing, configuring, and implementing z/VM
• Installing, migrating, and enabling z/VM
• Planning, configuring, and implementing z/VM for continuous availability across planned or unplanned outage of any single hardware or software element.
• Planning, installing, testing, and implementing z/VM service level upgrade and patches.
• Planning, monitoring, and implementing configuration changes to enhance z/VM performance.
• Creating and deploying z/VM guests and operating systems
• Installation, configuration, and administration of zVM Linux
• Customizing, patching, and securing zVM Linux
• Planning and implementing support for disaster recovery.
• Providing technical assistance to IBM CIO programmers.
• May require rotating 24x7 on-call support responsibility as well as weekend support

Required education
Associate's Degree/College Diploma

Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise
Information Technology degree and/or technology certifications preferred or substantial equivalent experience.
Experience with building packages.
Experience with Bash and other scripting.
Knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies including z/VM.
Good communication skills both written and oral are required as the individual must interface with application developers, support teams, software vendors and management staff.
5 - 10 years Red Hat Enterprise Linux engineering experience.

• IBM z/VM Z Systems Programmer experience.
• REXX, TCPIP, Web-Interfaces.
• Experience with building Linux packages.
• Experience or familiarity with Ansible, OpenShift, Jira and ServiceNow.

Preferred technical and professional experience

* Coding Technology Expertise: Experience working with various coding languages and technologies to drive system excellence and support system reliability, resiliency, and scalability. Familiarity with multiple programming languages and development frameworks is beneficial. * Advanced System Security: Exposure to advanced security measures and threat analysis techniques to protect I/T systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities, maintaining the integrity of sensitive data. Knowledge of security protocols and compliance requirements is advantageous. * Cloud Computing Platforms: Experience with cloud computing platforms and infrastructure, including design, implementation, and management of scalable and secure cloud-based systems. Familiarity with cloud migration strategies and hybrid cloud environments is desirable.
