Leads the Finance function in a well-defined unit through
accountability of reporting, compliance, working capital and business
partnering

PURPOSE

Manages all financial aspects of a company, with the primary purpose to ensure the financial stability, growth, risk management and profitability of the organization, compliant with external regulation and internal policies and guidelines.

Assumes a leadership role within terminal management, challenging the status quo and providing financial advice to all stakeholders to enable them to make sound business and investment decisions.

Inspire, manage, motivate, and coach employees, support cross‐functional communication and collaboration, and maintaining costs efficient systems.

Act in the best interest of the Joint Venture while aligning with both individual shareholders. Play a pro-active and crucial role in the processes attending the Board and Audit Committee meetings.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Stewardship of Company finances and financial administration including legal, this will encompass management of accounts, managing legal aspects and coordination of treasury matters.
• Secure the timely and accurate production of GAAP as well as IFRS consistent annual financial statements as well as statutory accounts.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation relating to audit, company as well as taxation, transfer pricing, levies and duties etc.
• Proactively support the management and functional leads improving the business results.
• Ensure the highest degree of data-based decision-making in the Terminal and provide the outside-in perspective and benchmarking.
• Ensure the continuous improvement and development of accounting systems and procedures.
• Lead and drive solid business performance management framework across the business.
• Responsible for providing required insights for the weekly/monthly flow of Terminal Operating System including MPRs.
• Lead Business Finance. Legal and procurement team, drive effective partnerships with JV partner and performance management at right levels, follow through actions to take initiatives to logical closure with clear value addition.
• Contribute and play an integral part in the leadership activities of the Company to enable the challenging objectives to be achieved and to drive the department as well as the Company forward including value added services.
• Responsible for Company statutory and financial accounting, taxation matters, legal matters, procurement activities, financial administration and audit.

REPORTING AND SCOPE

Direct reports: 4 Team Size:

• Manager Finance & Accounts, Revenue controller, Procurement manager and legal council, team size 20 FTE
• The position reports to the Regional CFO, within matrix dotted reporting line to terminal MD
• The scope of the position is domestic at the Aqaba Joint Venture between APMT and ADC (Aqaba Development Company – Jordanian Authorities).

WORK/BUSINESS CONTACTS AND AUTHORITY

• Internal: All staff at the terminal, HQ and regional office, peers at other entities.
• External: JV partners, government, agencies, auditors, lawyers, service providers, customers.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Who we are looking for:

• A solid financial educational background as Chartered Accountant or equivalent master’s degree in Finance.
• Minimum 10 years’ related finance experience in an international organisation. Industry experience is preferred, but not a must.
• Substantial people leadership experience with a proven track-record of selecting and coaching finance and legal professionals.
• Proven track record of adding value to the business through business partnering.
• Possess a high degree of analytical skills and is capable of combining strategy with financial insights.
• Strong commercial acumen to understand and challenge business agenda.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and working in joint venture environment – ability to explain financial data and conclusions based on them to stakeholders with non-financial background.
• Excellent English proficiency and communication skills.
• Charismatic personality of a real influencer, able to lead people successfully.
• Hands-on experience in the areas of managing board of directors, meetings, joint venture and external government stakeholders.
• Senior stakeholder management and ability to influence and collaborate cross functionally and in a matrix organization.

Appetizer:

We are looking for a seasoned Finance Leader with a strong commercial mindset to join as Terminal CFO and with long term interest in an international career. In this role, you will provide leadership and guidance to the Finance, procurement and legal function, be a strong business partner to the managing director, support the local strategy development for the setup of current joint venture; and lead a strong business finance, procurement and legal team supporting and adding value to the terminal. You will be accountable for the quality of all accounting-related matters, ensure that the business result and performance measures are done on “one set of numbers”, develop a strong organization capable of supporting business growth, and actively contribute to the area of strategic plans.

Reporting to the Regional Chief Finance Officer, Asia and Middle East, and being

a core member of the ACT Leadership Team, you will play a key role in influencing the business priority and overall business direction based on financial insights and expertise.

The role is based in Aqaba, Jordan, and oversees all aspects of finance, procurement and legal. Including managing the joint venture partners.

The role is a steppingstone for a further international career in APMT or the other companies in the Maersk Group. This position is an expat role and location is in Aqaba.
