Research Associate (Sonologist), Paediatrics & Child Health -MC

Introduction

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the grant-funded contractual position of Research Associate (Sonologist) in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

• ensure clear images for diagnostic purposes and make adjustments to the sonographic equipment when necessary
• monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures
• select and examine images, look for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determine if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings
• complete the appropriate documentation and maintaining patients' histories and medical records
• assist the healthcare teams during procedures
• maintain and clean the sonographic equipment
• prepare ultrasound equipment and exam room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed
• review images to ensure a clear image of the area requested.

Requirements

You should have:

• a diploma in sonography or relevant degree
•  at least one  to two years of experience in community research
• good interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills
• proficiency in the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office
• ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively  ability to work effectively in teams
• resilience to cope-up with work pressure
• good report writing skills and willingness to work in the community settings and travel to field sites.
