The Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey -August 2012

Data for the August2012 Jobs Index was collected online between the26th July2012 to26th August2012, with5,999 working professionals from the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Pakistan. Males and females aged over18 years old, of all nationalities, were included in the survey.

Survey Highlights:

  • • Current hiring expectancy slightly better compared to the past wave with28% of respondents claiming they will ‘definitely hire’ in the next3. Another25% are uncertain about their plans sand say they would ‘probably hire’. Respondents from Qatar, KSA and Kuwait are more likely to hire than others.
  • •Future hiring also shows some improvement with66% being positive of hiring in the next12 months. Of these30% to ‘definitely hire’ and36% to ‘probably hire’. KSA, Qatar and Kuwait show greater likelihood of hiring in the next12 months.
  • • Overall the Private Sector (Multi-national Companies) are more likely to hire in the next3 months (59%) and in the coming12 months followed by Private sector- Large local companies.
  • •45% of all those indicating they would hire in the next3 months report they will look to hire for less than5 positions.24% say they would hire for6-10 positions.
  • • UAE, Qatar and KSA are all regarded as the most attractive job markets by recruiters.
  • • Banking (34%) takes the lead followed by Telecom (33%) and Construction (31%) as the most attractive industries.
