The goal of the Bayt.com Top Cities in the Middle East and North Africa survey is to understand the opinions of people living in the Middle East and North Africa countries about their city of residence. The survey aims to assess the key cities in the region on various aspects that have direct impact on the quality of life of its residents, and to develop an overall index based on several parameters, including the standard of living, economic factors, socio-cultural factors, and labor rights.

Key Highlights:

  • Manama (64%), Riyadh (54%) and Eastern Province (52%) are rated best when it comes to reasonably priced day to day amenities.
  • In terms of affordable housing, Manama takes the top spot (48%), followed by Muscat (42%) and Sharjah (40%).
  • Abu Dhabi (50%), Dubai (45%) and Muscat (46%) emerge as the top3 cities in terms of end of service benefits.
  • For career growth, Dubai emerges as the top city with54% rating it positively.
  • Muscat is rated highest in terms of tolerance to different cultures and ideas, with79% rating it positively followed by Dubai (74%).
  • Data for the Bayt.com Top Cities in the Middle East and North Africa Survey2015 was collected online from25 August to6 September2015, with the participation of3,613 respondents. The survey polled people from varying nationalities including GCC Arabs, North Africans, Levantines, and Western and Asian expats living in major cities in the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Pakistan.
