The Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey – August 2017

The Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey, published twice a year, is a reflective study on existing and potential job opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa. For employers, the report provides information on the attractiveness of particular sectors, industries, and job locations. For job seekers, the report is a useful depiction of the changes in job availability as well as a guide for hiring potential by area, country, sector, experience level, desired skills, and more.

Key Findings:

  • Nearly two thirds (64%) of employers are planning to hire in a year’s time and one in two employers (50%) are planning to hire in the next three months.
  • 43% of companies are going to hire for a “Junior Executive”, followed by27% who intend to hire a “Coordinator”, and another24% who intend to hire a “Manager”.
  • The most demanded academic degrees are Engineering Graduation/Post Graduation (32%), followed by Business Management Graduation/Post Graduation (27%).
  • 37% of companies look for candidates with “managerial” experience – “ability to manage a team”.
  • Good communication skills in Arabic and English (59%) emerge as the top skill that employers look for in a candidate.
  • Industries attracting/retaining top talent in the MENA region include Banking/Finance (31%), Engineering/Design (26%), and Real Estate/Construction/property development (26%).
  • Data for the Bayt.com Middle East Job Index survey was collected online between May19th and July19th,2017. Results are based on a sample of1,474 respondents from the following countries: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
