ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The purpose of this role is to find a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer who will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will create innovative and cost-effective electrical designs that meet client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes. This position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects within specified timelines and budgets.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop electrical designs, schematics, and drawings for power distribution systems, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, and other electrical components using CAD software.
• Conduct electrical load calculations, voltage drop calculations, and short-circuit analysis to ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment, materials, and components based on project requirements and industry standards.
• Ensure that electrical designs comply with local, national, and international electrical codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
• Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical designs with overall building designs and systems.
• Select appropriate electrical equipment, devices, and materials based on project specifications, performance requirements, and budget constraints.
• Identify potential risks and hazards associated with electrical designs and propose mitigation strategies to ensure safety and reliability.
• Participate in the testing, commissioning, and startup of electrical systems to verify their functionality and performance.
• Prepare comprehensive electrical design documentation, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of electrical designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be available to join immediately.
• Must have experience in working for contracting companies.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the building construction industry.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar CAD/BIM tools.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and standards.
• Familiarity with electrical codes and regulations, including NEC, IEC, and IEEE standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
