If design and build procurement route is adopted for 2 stage tendering, what are its advantages & disadvantages?

advantage

increased contractor involment in design. some degree of competition ability to overlap design & tendering.

disadvantage

lack of competition in second stage. program implication to include tender period+ though this can be overlapping with design)
