AUTOCAD is 2d and 3d Modelling software which is mainly used for drafting and detailling purposes.
main purpose is to reduce project time and cost.
AutoCad or any other CAD program have the same purpose.... making lines and shapes into an electronic drawing for production to manufacture.
The point is CAD programs been developed to save time to create drawings and reproducing (copy) them.
For those which do not have ever made a drawing by hand on a piece of parchment paper:
This has been done by hand, usually done by pencil and then by ink (could be very messy), to reproduce such an drawing been time consuming and your fingertips may had markings of acid .
To design or Create a soft copy of the drawingsc/ Diagrams which shall be formattable and can be easily viewed (Zoom) through differenet angle and perspectives.
To pre-design our dreams that will be necessary while execution.
