If you have to choose between a lower position in a large & well-known company and higher position in a small company, what choice you'll make & why?

To be honest, I had to choose  between those two a few days ago and I think I made the right call for myself, but I want to know how Top, Middle & Low-Level managers and everyone seeking to thrive his career "regardless of positions" think about these exciting and limited choices we're forced to face.

Reality check; Smaller companies doesn't provide enough experience Related to your job, compared to bigger ones especially a multi-national corporation "in my case" which will engage its employees in a complete & diversified tasks/activities that will grow your experience exponentially even at a lower position, this is what matters the most for me and a lot other…. This work will provide me great understanding of your job, which doubles employees' chances of a better job tomorrow, with a higher salary if decided to leave.

Also, if an employee proved himself worthy, he will have better chance to be promoted which is not available in many smaller companies, even if it’s available and you took it, 10 years from now maybe you’ll be in a leading position in a medium or small company, and the one who took the lower job for a bigger company he may not be in a leading position equal to the one who choose the higher position but he will have better chances to get a leading position in a large or multinational company with better salary, benefits, and so on… 

Smaller & medium companies “at least here in Jeddah” neither provide supportively nor motivating work environment adding to that with disorganized & clumsy managers who mistakenly confuse planning with over-planning and if they had any plans at the first place.

Taking a dream to grow a smaller company to become a large one without any knowledge of what you may face there?! & Without any experience doing that?!!! 

two more things, god blessings won’t help anyone doing that and Elon musk is a very limited edition.

Logic demands to join a Large company even with a Lower position, but my choice would be a Small company with a Higher position because I've inborn Leadership qualities and, as such, Executive post suits my nature. With my innate qualities, hard-work & ALLAH's Blessings, I am sure to convert that Small company into a Larger one.

Higher position in small company . i believe that i can enlarge the small business and build its structure step by step to be large and known company .

First of all there is no choice given to choose. It is a common phenomena that bigger companies takes people from smaller companies for lower position and vice versa for obvious reasons known.

Bigger companies allow you to handle smaller portion of your expertise but in large volume. Smaller companies allow you to handle full portion of your expertise but in smaller volume. Naturally, lesser the volume lesser the chances of experiencing problems and handling solutions.

A vice president of a company that allowed to handle employees with3 direct reportees of Marketing, Sales and Aftersales departments, hired for a bigger company to handle employees of an aftersales department alone with 6 direct reportees as senior manager

To cite an example, HR qualified person may be allowed to handle all aspects of HR in smaller companies with limited scope for experiencing problems because of less volume of employees. The same person when entering into bigger companies shall be allowed to handle one aspect of HR such as either recruitment or exit interview or Retention or leave or payroll area alone because of thousands of employees.    

During budding stage one should focus on learning and later stage for earning in any profession. Therefore, one should be blessed to have entry in bigger companies to gain more problems to learn fast the solutions and in later stage  one shall enter into smaller companies to handle the full expertise gained in the bigger companies.

I would choose the high position in low company, because I also care about the My CV

Honestly, it will depend what positional field that position is all about, say it will be in technical position then It wouldn't matter, I will have to check the salary offer though.

 

For Administrative position, after seeing the salary as my first criterion, I would choose the higher position even though that will be a smaller company. Why, because on my next "career" jump, this position is the current one for searching a new job.

Small company I would choose because there is a challenge to make it a big company, such as fruit, small seedlings grow into a big tree and then a fruitful
