3ds max or 3d Maya which is the best software for effects?

thats  depend  your  need  if  its  animation and  smal movie  or adverstising better maya   and  if  is it somthing about  designe  mechanical  or interior  or space  3dmax  is  the best  almost maya is  perfect  for  cinema  and  3d  animation  and  3dmax  for  concept and  static work

The answer is neither! nor max neither Maya is being used in Effects now days. If you want to do particle effects your ONLY choice is Houdini. 

let me tell you something about 3d max and maya both software are strongly amzging in 3d effects rigging, animation character modeling and both have  plugin for rendering and so many ways of making an pretty awesome output but all depend on the person who work on software how his/ her knowlege of making an amazging result 

Mparticles , particles system , fume fx , real flow , lens flair  are used in3d max for genrate differentkind of effects

maya is good into Animation and3d max good into model but maya having stitting is good
